it's been raining a lot, was perfect to spend nights re-sorting out my cds... re-sorting always turns out to be re-discovering, "sugar in the rain" by sid ramin was one of so many and made a treasury inspired by the melody. umbrella, rain drops, birds, girl in a lovely dress, fresh veges and a sweet tea time etc... i love spring rain.

The new school term has started and the entrance ceremony of my niece was held this morning. Sakura/cherry blossoms are in full bloom. Little things seem extraordinary sometimes, the beauty of spring is such a one this year. Faint pink here and  there, it makes my daily dog-walk like a special event.  One month has passed after the tohoku earthquake. What we read in the newspapers and what we see on TV might not be saying all as is. What we can do from the west seems so limited but making donations is one powerful thing for now and the future, not only for them but for "all of us" with hope.

It's Girls' day tomorrow ! Such events seem loosing  our original Japaneseness year by year  but my ladies of the house won't and several hina dolls have been decorated here and there. I always feel like celebrating the evening with our traditional old menu (chirashi zushi, shiro-sake and shortcake with berries as dessert)!!!

food smells often evoke our old memories and this video was such a one. this video was filmed in the old quarter where i stayed during my long holiday, their beautiful language is now resonating in my ears so nicely with good memories... it's time to cook supper now, i do feel like a bowl of phở hà nội with fresh hearbs...

i've been singing a tune of "Norwegian Wood" all the time

since i went to see ノルウェイの森 the other day.

i've read the book many years ago and had a strong image on each character,

i can't compare the film with the book but it doesn't bother me at all.

i love Tran Anh Hung's semi-transmissive dreamy greens in his every film.

 this one also, it was visually stunningly-beautiful.

winter#1

i just made the above treasury "let it snow"

inspired by ladies living in sapporo, montreal and vancouver 

they all told me about "snow" coincidentally today.

winter foods tell us our winter has already come,

but it will take a while before we get our first snow...

mikan : japanese mandarine orange

kakimochi : fried rice paste

yummy snacks go perfectly well with genmai-tea.

I've found some new faves when browsing for the above, etsy is a real cyber GOLD mountain for me(' u ')/  Red and gold... Brown and forest green... it's perfect time for those delicious colors!

Oh, it's time for おやつ/sweets (3pm) !!! To ride the "conveni-sweets" boom, each convenience store is promoting its variety of sweets lately.  The quality is more than excellent for the prices, wish I could share some...

"in the mood for small talk"... yes, I am! I've got lovely postal mails from my girl friends living far away this week. I do feel like flying here and there for small but GOOD talk with them...

And lovely convos from  etsians did lift me up, too! Sarah (from Mouse Trap Vintage) & Beth (from SquidWhale Designs) made my treasury "night tales" part of their first blog post for the series "ETSY TREASURY FRIDAYS" <3  YEY!!!

mellow yellows...

Gorgeous yellows that I've found on etsy today. It's been deliciously cool here and my treasury colors have become warmer spontaneously... Sit and sip serching for great items from all over the world is always so exciting and lifts me up in a big way, it's now like chromotherapy for me, I simply love it!!!

The heavy rain we had 2 days ago might have taken the record-breaking summer heat from all over Japan. The weather has suddenly become cooler, looking more like a real autumn. I need to take out a warm blanket...

There're people of all ages setting out for months to go on a pilgrimage from Shikoku to Santiago de Compostela not only for religous practices but also for all sorts of reasons. There are so many to find in my journey through life too, a long way to go...

September rain

My treasury of the day is about today's weather. It rained after almost a month, I love the feel of the cool summer shower but it didn't last long... can't wait to get away from the summer heat soon.
